The Vento system takes control of the ventilation of an attic. All ventilation is controlled by fans and dampers which are installed in the gables or throughout the roof. When it is beneficial to ventilate, the fans run and the dampers open. The fans and dampers are regulated by a control unit which receives information from climate sensors placed both inside and outside the attic space. A microprocessor uses an algorithm to decide whether the ventilation should run or not.
The Vento system’s performance is optimised if the attic space is as air-tight as possible and uncontrolled ventilation is minimised. Most attics have soffit vents and/or ridge vents which therefore need to be sealed prior to the system’s installation. This is most easily achieved in new buildings. However, as a small leakage is acceptable, it can also be installed in existing houses, which are harder to fully seal, albeit with some loss in efficiency.
